SPS Wins Recompete Bid With U.S. Department Of Justice To Supply JCON Engineering Support
Arlington, VA, November 8, 2001 – Following Software Performance Systems' (SPS) successful release of the Justice Consolidated Office Network (JCON II) system for the Justice Management Division (JMD) at the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the Northern Virginia-based company announced today it has been awarded an additional five-year contract to modernize the system's standard architecture. The contract is valued at $7.25 million with all options exercised, for a period of five years.
Since the system's inception in Fall 1997, SPS has been instrumental in redesigning JCON, a large-scale administrative and litigation support system targeted for approximately 30,000 users at the JMD. The SPS team worked closely with key DOJ management, technical staff, and software/hardware vendors to develop a highly functional, reliable system following a formal life cycle development approach. The successful deployment of JCON II in July 2001 gave SPS a major advantage in the renewal of its contract with DOJ. The renewed contract (JCON IIA) calls for modernizing JCON II's standard architecture by implementing Windows 2000, Windows XP, Active Directory and Exchange 2000, and continuing to administer and maintain the JCON Lab.
"We are pleased to continue our long-term, successful working relationship with the Department of Justice and the JCON Program Management Office,” said Joe Linza, SPS Vice President of Strategic Solutions. "The SPS team will use the domain and technical expertise gained over the past three years to help the USDOJ to continue to move towards a Department-wide, integrated office architecture.” SPS is a Microsoft Solutions Provider and follows well-defined configuration management and quality assurance (QA) processes for all tasks. Its work at DOJ has earned quality accolades from the Deputy Assistant Attorney General.
