SPS To Provide Department Of Transportation E-Mail And Messaging Services
Arlington, VA, August 3, 2000 – Software Performance
Systems, Inc. (SPS) announced that it has been selected by the Transportation
Administrative Service Center (TASC) at the Department of Transportation (DOT)
to provide e-mail and messaging services under an Indefinite
Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. As a contractor partner for
the Value Added Niche Information Technology Services (VANITS) Special Project
Office (V-SPO), SPS will offer customers platform and application development
for services delivery and technical support. The IDIQ contact award is valued
at approximately $95 million, and the period of performance is seven years.
“With the award of the e-mail/messaging niche area to SPS, DOT customers
can immediately benefit from our extensive Public Key Infrastructure and XML
experience,” said SPS President Greg Dorsett. “SPS is
helping national and international organizations set PKI and XML data exchange
standards and is one of a very few companies to have delivered production
systems using the XML Schema 1.0 standard. Our deployed e-mail and messaging
systems provide secure service to tens of thousands of government and
commercial customers, soon to include the DOT community.”
VANITS offers an alternative to traditional government-wide agency contracts
(GWAC). Customers can outsource their work without their data or business
actually leaving the government. VANITS’ extensive list of contractor
partners offers customers an array of service and support choices.
