SPS To Provide Information Systems Engineering Solutions To The DOC
Arlington, VA, September 15, 2000 – Software Performance
Systems, Inc. (SPS) announced that it has been selected by the Department of
Commerce (DOC) as an awardee of the COMMerce Information Technology Solutions
(COMMITS) program. SPS will provide solutions in the Information Systems
Engineering (ISE) functional area.
“With the award of the ISE functional area to SPS, DOC customers can
immediately benefit from our extensive enterprise software development
experience,” said SPS Strategic Solutions Vice President Joe
Linza. “SPS is the sixth largest DOC contractor, of any size, and we are
expecting to receive significant tasking through the COMMITS vehicle. Just
within the DOC, SPS has delivered several enterprise systems that are currently
in production and are being used by tens of thousands of government and
commercial users.” Examples of DOC enterprise systems that
SPS has deployed within the last year include:
-
POWER, the first fully automated electronic review, routing, and tracking
system the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) uses to process
international patent applications filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
-
www.NauticalCharts.gov, a B2G2B portal that links National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) nautical chart agents with print-on-demand
fulfillment agencies. The site also collects and distributes real-time,
navigational electronic information to the maritime community.
-
A system that enables USPTO employees and members of the public to request
copies of patent and trademark application case files stored in warehouses.
This File Ordering System (FOS) supports approximately 5,000 USPTO users,
including patent examiners who need to access files during the examination
process and File Repository staff members who are responsible for order
fulfillment. FOS has averaged approximately 12,000 user transactions each day.
COMMITS is the first information technology (IT) IDIQ multiple award contract
set aside exclusively for small, small disadvantaged, 8(a) and women-owned
small businesses. The COMMITS Program Management Office anticipates IT
expenditures under these multiple award contracts to cumulatively reach $1.5
billion over five years. COMMITS helps other agencies reach their
socio-economic goals by giving them credit for use, and Commerce has requested
additional OMB Executive Agent (GWAC) authority for use under this acquisition
vehicle.
