SPS Completes the Continuity of Operations Plan for the ITS Division
of the LOC

Falls Church, VA, April 20, 2004 – Software Performance Systems' (SPS) development team recently completed a practical and maintainable Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) for the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division within the Library of Congress (LOC).

In developing the LOC ITS COOP, SPS provided not only Information Technology (IT) disaster recovery procedures but also incorporated other continuity of operations and telecommunications plans to create a single consolidate plan.

The plan will be part of an overall continuity of business planning process for the LOC. SPS followed the guidelines and methodologies identified in NIST Special Publication 800-34 and OMB Circular A-130. SPS team members met with senior ITS management and technical group managers to identify appropriate documentation and affected personnel, and to prioritize applications systems.

The plan also developed detailed disaster scenarios and established a process which allows ITS to maintain the currency and accuracy of their COOP. The work was performed as a subcontractor to Northrop Grumman.
