SPS Helps Federal Agencies Book Criminal Suspects

Falls Church, VA, September 17, 2004 – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives booked its first suspect using SPS software on Sept. 13.

SPS has been re-developing the Joint Automated Booking Station (JABS) into a web-based architecture for the US Department of Justice. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is the first Federal agency to use the new SPS-developed JABS, which was deployed on Sept. 10, 2004.

The ATF submitted its first "booking package" this September, meaning that agents have used the system to book and process a suspect arrested on Federal criminal charges.

JABS was deployed to Washington, DC, Richmond, and Kansas City on Aug. 19. The USDOJ Project Management Office will continue to rollout the booking stations to 40 ATF offices in the next several weeks while conducting training for all ATF users.

SPS continues to maintain this mission-critical system with 24/7 support.

The SPS development team continues monitoring the production system while developing new functions. The team is also initiating efforts to support our next client, the US Marshals Service.
