FIELD DATA COLLECTIONImproved Support for Field StaffSPS mobile systems help government agencies achieve a high rate of return on IT investments through reuse of existing Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) solutions, available to government agencies at no cost. Our mobile solutions are based on our proven technical approach of Reuse and Extension – reuse of available software components and extension of existing functionality to mobile devices. These principles enable cost-effective, efficient, and low-risk mobile solutions, while reducing long-term maintenance costs and lowering overall cost-of-ownership. SPS mobile applications use readily customizable automated questionnaires and checklists to guide users though a structured data collection process and organize collected information. The applications ensure that collected data is complete and correct, enabling seamless and error-free synchronization with back-end systems. Featured Solutions SPS-developed GOTS/COTS Solutions IICS synchronizes data with the Consolidated Compliance and Enforcement Data System (CCEDS). It enforces CCEDS business rules by reusing CCEDS services and extends CCEDS functionality to mobile devices. This approach ensures CCEDS database integrity and avoids duplicate implementation of business rules. Commercial Offerings Mobile products for SPS Golf Management Solutions consist of an inventory tracking system and a wireless starter tee sheet. The inventory tracking system uses a handheld barcode scanner to scan items, enter the quantity, and automatically update inventory records, which is integrated with the POS station and back-end accounting system. Technical Architecture SPS's use of Component Based architecture allows us to maximize the use of current mobile technology to achieve solid business benefits, while remaining flexible enough to accommodate different mobile devices in the future, expansion of services, and expansion to web or portal systems. A great strength of our mobile architecture is that web services are unaffected by the underlying platform. Web service protocols handle all interaction between client and server. A PocketPC or any other system may use a web service without any knowledge or concern for the platform on which they are deployed. This holds for both the .NET and Java-based technologies.
