SPS Corporate HistorySoftware Performance Systems, Inc. (SPS), founded in 1995 by Gregory G. Dorsett, celebrated its Tenth Anniversary in June 2005. SPS, a small business based in the Washington, DC area, specializes in the design and integration of complex enterprise solutions for U.S. Government, International, State, Local and commercial clients. Mr. Dorsett’s vision was to create a company that would provide clients with dependable technical solutions, provide a stimulating and challenging work environment, and contribute to the local community through charitable initiatives. We are proud to have served our first customer, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), without interruption throughout our history, delivering several large solutions, including an award-winning revenue accounting and management system. Our USPTO experience and successes led to engagements at the U.S. Coast Guard; Department of Justice; and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Marine Chart Division, where we developed a print-on-demand nautical charts system – a 2001 winner of three National e-Gov awards. Our USPTO experience also led to successful engagements with international patent organizations. Additional clients include the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Institution, among others. SPS won its first state contract in 2000, providing the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality with a comprehensive environmental compliance and enforcement system, one of the first in the nation. The SPS Commercial division was established in 2000 to provide web-based products to the golf, yacht, villa, and Food & Beverage industries. SPS’s policies and programs emphasize building and retaining a competent and motivated team. An internal Corporate Technology Team was created in 2001 to provide a technical leadership path. In 2002, Computerworld identified SPS as one of the Top 100 Best Places to Work in IT, an honor surpassed in 2003 when Computerworld ranked SPS #10 overall. In 2003, SPS was independently assessed at Level 2 of the Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model. In response to increased business, and to provide more options to our employees, SPS moved from our original offices in Crystal City, VA in 2003. We now maintain corporate offices in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Today, SPS continues to emphasize close client partnerships, domain and technical expertise, professional leadership, and a team-oriented environment. SPS is on solid footing for continued growth and service excellence in the decades to come.
