SPS Golf Management Solutions

– Rich Albright, PGA Professional, Regent Park Golf Club

The first commercial product developed by Software Performance Systems, Inc. (SPS) was launched on January 12, 2001 as GolfGopher - The Completely Integrated Web-based Golf Course Management System.  GolfGopher was the first web-based system to integrate point-of-sale, inventory, tee time reservations and data management into one online solution – PGA Magazine, 2001.  PB Dye Golf Course in Ijamsville, MD was our first customer, deployed June 2001.  The GolfGopher customer base has grown to over 200 courses in the past four years.

In November 2001, GolfGopher and The PGA of America’s PGA Interactive division signed a three-year Sponsorship Agreement as part of a new program launched nationally as Network PGA.  The Network PGA program is dedicated to improving the education, training, expertise, and performance of the more than 26,000 PGA Professionals through technology.

In November 2002, SPS completed the acquisition and merger of Teetimes.com, a premier provider of tee time reservation and golf marketing systems, offering a comprehensive suite of Internet-based tools ranging from reservations to customer communications and Hotel/Packager Booking.  Teetimes.com has one of the most successful golf websites in the industry with over 250,000 golf members booking more than a million Internet rounds per year.

As part of a new branding effort, encompassing all SPS Commercial products, GolfGopher was renamed SPS Golf Management Solutions (SPS GMS) in January 2004.  SPS GMS is the leader in leveraging the power of the Internet for golf course owners and operators.  SPS GMS's fully integrated golf course management system is designed to handle Reservations, Hotel/Packager Booking, IVR, Point-of-Sale, Credit Card Processing, Inventory, Membership, Club Accounts, E-mail Marketing, Loyalty Program, Accounting Integration and Food & Beverage touch screen and handheld wireless technology.  SPS's secure, Internet-based technology allows access to your golf course from anywhere, at anytime.

In July 2004, SPS released PlayGolfTomorrow.com (PGT), a product of SPS GMS, designed to enable golf courses to easily and effectively offer golf specials for playing golf tomorrow, giving them the opportunity to receive cash for tee times that would have otherwise gone unsold.  PGT customers have the added benefit of gaining exposure to over a quarter million Teetimes.com and GolfGopher.com members.

In August 2004, development was completed and implemented to interface the SPS Golf Management Solutions Tee Sheet software to PGA Tee Times on PGA.com.
